It will do well for us to understand this lest leaders be it spiritual or political find ourselves preaching to the “choir”
What makes us all make decisions are sometimes unknown to us who make them. Consciously we may say something but find ourselves when face to face with the issue decide otherwise. The triggers that cause people to choose lies deep in them and sometimes buried from childhood.
Paul in Romans 7:15 MSG translation said, “What I don’t understand about myself is that I decide one way, but then I act another, doing things I absolutely despise.” For Peter he was certain when he told Jesus I will never deny but Jesus said you will because He saw deeper.
David termed those things errors I do not understand and secret faults. Psalm 19:12 “Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.” This is why we say people are deceitful, sometimes is not that they deliberately set out to deceive the fault lines are deeper.
Some of the things we see playing out in an adult were embedded while he was a child he cannot consciously remember but the program is in his memory disk deep in his mind. Proverbs 22:6 says Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Leaders be it spiritual or political will do well to know the triggers in the consciousness of the people lest they speak a language the people do not understand. Someone who seems less informed or educated pulls those triggers while the qualified preaches to the “choir.”
