Why do people fail even when they are believers and confess their success?

The primary reason for failure is the lack of the most important commodity in every venture. The abundance of every other thing without this virtue will result in failure. It is called wisdom i.e. good counsel.

Waiting on God to receive counsel before we embark on anything is the key to success. We need first to ask Him for the set of instructions, the list of things we need to adhere to that will guarantee our success.

The Book of proverbs spells out the reason for disappointments

Proverbs 15:22
Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.

Everything you purpose to do on this earth is established through good and solid counsel. Without which the people will fall.

Proverbs 20:18
Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.

What then is counsel? It is wisdom, practical instructions as to how you are to go about something, and this through an understanding of the knowledge of how things work. A man comes to understand the knowledge behind a thing and therefore can deduce the steps to take to make it happen in his own case. How then do I get this wisdom for my endeavors?

First thing is to ask God.

James 1:5
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Next, seek out where the knowledge of what you want to do exists. Study that knowledge knowing since wisdom has entered into your heart in answer to your prayers, you will find out the knowledge of witty inventions.

What is at the roots of those witty inventions will be well understood in your mind.

Proverbs 8:12
I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.
