The fact that something has the potential to be used by satan to further his purpose doesn’t make the thing inherently evil or else the tongue should be branded as evil. It is the tongue the scripture says is a spark that can set on fire the cycle of our existence directly from hell.
James 3: 6 (TLB)
“And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is full of wickedness and poisons every part of the body. And the tongue is set on fire by hell itself and can turn our whole lives into a blazing flame of destruction and disaster.”
This is how we get dispossessed as the Church from vital tools we can use to impact the world. What carries the power to do harm may also have the capacity to do much good.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue. The same tongue that has caused wars on the earth is the instrument through which we glorify Christ in worship and bless humanity. No other instrument has been deployed by the adversary to further his cause than the tongue. This however is the case for the work of Christ on the earth. Before we brand anything as inherently evil let’s think deeply and look at its nature.
